Yellow and Gray for a Wedding?

Having a brightly themed wedding during the peak winter season in the southern hemisphere, in July with rain, hail and wind, was a reminder to ourselves of the yellow ball in the sky that sometimes likes to grace our lives. Steve and Anne thought a pretty yellow and grey wedding colour palette would be just the thing to cheer us up and inspire some fun wedding planning!

Yellow and grey are one of my absolute favorite wedding color schemes, so I was so excited when our client sent over these chic yellow and gray wedding inspirations! This is quite a modern colour combination, but Julia Elyse’s classy and sophisticated style incorporated them beautifully – and of course Hip Events always designs fabulous weddings! This one had a lovely combination of crystal chandeliers, silver bottles, and mason jars… absolutely gorgeous! The adorable couple Steve and Anne were delighted with how this beautiful wedding came together!

Their wedding ceremony was held in a historic, vintage colonial church in Northcote, Auckland. Hip Events provided the backdrop for the ceremony: simple but elegant glass candelabras with silver candles adorned the chapel, the aisle was aligned with cylinder vases with diamond encrusted sashes filled with lemons adding some zestiness to the affair. The entrance was just stunning with gigantic floral combinations created a dramatic entry for the guests and bride. Three Kings International Restaurant served as the venue for the reception dinner, as well as catering the event with fine Filipino cuisine.  The design team helped decorate the entire venue with luxurious yet intimate details on the banquet tablescape to fulfill the newly-weds every dream.

If you want understated elegance with a pop of color for your wedding, then we highly recommend a chic gray and yellow palette! A blend of slate, charcoal, dove gray or even silver tones with sunshiny golden yellow can go anywhere from playful and outdoorsy to hip and trendy. Here, we showcase how this lovely pairing can use patterns and charming florals to give a mod spin to a sophisticated wedding scene. Definitely one of our favorite looks!

Coastal Rustic Appeal

Our destination wedding in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty was truly one of a kind. This couple has a passion on kiwi ingenuity of DIY. They have a great idea in mind to transform their idyllic beachfront abode into the setting of their Rustic Beach Wedding.

The bride’s favourite flower is a variety of succulents and it soon became our focal color for the wedding. On a beautiful December afternoon, Vlad and Jen were married on the outdoor deck at Papamoa with a natural backdrop accentuated with tiki pole adorned with bottles and flower fusion. During the wedding party photo shoot, a cocktail reception with games and custom ice cream corner welcomed and entertained their guests.

Our clients desired an outdoor reception but with the weather being unpredictable in December, we brought the outdoor gardens into the marquee itself. The featured cake and candy corner, family style tables adorned with dozens of succulents flowers, driftwoods and seashells. The ceiling full of cascading purple, pink and white lanterns in various sizes completed with the splash of mood lighting.

The final touch was a magnificent cascading glass-through tea light holders surrounding the bride and groom table that were lit into the whole evening. This was truly a wedding to remember. Hip Events provided full planning, stationery, décor and flowers for this wedding.

Wedstival at its Finest

Weddings are no longer a one-day affair or even a simple pre and post event tagged on to a big day. Trend setting brides are opting for mini-festival, aka wedstival.

The ultimate goal is to make it intimate, romantic, super fun and memorable. They opted for a destination wedding to have a chance for family and friends a holiday together and everyone will have their part.

On a beautiful October weekend, Hip Events was given a task to transform a small private island resort in Coron, Palawan,Philippines into a festival haven for few days, we designed and styled the venue every night with different themed dinner parties such as the Fairylandia and All White Party and The Wedding Day.

Andrew and Crestine choose a romantic upscale rustic theme that matched their venue perfectly. Everything from Crestine ’s lace dress, to Andrew’s eclectic tangerine tie, including the log slice cake stand, and the miniature flower adorned cupcakes, the drift wood centerpieces accentuated with local flora, to the local bangka’s(boat) that brought guests to and from the ceremony were chosen to match this couple’s fun-loving and outdoor loving personalities.

From the moment I started working with this couple, I knew this wedding would be something special. Their love shone through in every detail. From their memorial wedding favours to Crestine’s handmade bridal bouquet. This wedding will have everyone reminiscing for years to come about a truly magical day.
